It's moving day --

I am jumping the frustrating ship at Live Journal and moving to Word Press. There's a lot more options for cataloging my books by era, author, etc. as well as other fun things.  You have no idea how time consuming it's become to post at LJ, let alone get the blog list updated. I've added some new blogs to my blog roll and hope to add a few more widgets and gadgets once I get a chance to figure out how they all work.

Any who, feel free to come on over and see what I've got going on at Word Press here.

Have added you on WordPress too then as I don't want to miss your reviews! I'm already there at http://madameguillotine.org.uk. :)

I've already got your blog in my reader. Love those paintings, keep it up.

And for anyone who still wants to watch you on their LJ f-page (I'm lazy that way) they can watch misfitreviews (it's a syndicated account of your new blog).

I haven't had the problems you talk about, but I use my FireFox for spellcheck (it runs in all web-forms, and is SO convenient!) and I have a paid account, so no ads and I'm supposed to get faster access... One of these days I'm going to give up on it, though, and I'll have to find something else to watch feeds in...

It's probably the paid account that gets the zippy fast action. I'm not willing to shell out the dough.

I like the communities, so I'll probably never leave. That's something Wordpress and Blogger don't have, so for things like crafts and whatnot all I could do was post to my own blog and maybe a few people would see it. The communities have large viewership, though, so I post - and get a lot of feedback/advice/help - there

Even with the paid account LJ has been a little laggy lately, but I can't stand ads and I like to post polls, so I shell out the money...

I would stay if I had a bookish community here, but all those friends are at Goodreads and other places. Gads, even to get the add link/photo window to open has been awfully slow. I just walk away for five minutes and then hope I can do something. And not just my pc/connection here, same thing if I try at work.

Ha, funny you should phrase it that way, the community I watch/post to is bookish. ;)

That is ridiculously slow, I wouldn't put up with that, either...

Thanks for linking Smeddley. I have a wall banger wednesday coming up either tomorrow or next week, including video of Seattle's favorite clown.

I will see it! :D As will anyone else who subscribes to the feed (another perk of paid accounts, I can make feeds! ~.^).

About me

After spending the day job chasing contractors for money I like nothing better than to settle down into my favorite chair with a book and the cat and immerse myself in the past. I've been reviewing on Amazon for several years and just started this LJ blog for fun and to share my love of books with others. I must be doing something right, last time I checked Amazon said I had 49 fans!

I get most of my books from the library with the occasional ARC from Amazon Vine (although my success rate with that program is poor to middling). I know most people shy from writing critical reviews and maintain the old adage "if you can't say something nice...." but after making the mistake of reading Pillars of the Earth I discovered that if I had looked at those one and two star reviews I would have thought twice before wasting time and money. Not every book is for every person - even with those I have very similar reading tastes.

Favorite authors (in no particular order), Sharon Kay Penman, Elizabeth Chadwick, Dorothy Dunnett, Anya Seton, Daphne Du Maurier and last but not least Dumas Pere'.
