Here's my sweet darlin' enjoying the afternoon sun by the patio door - a favorite kitty past time. Hard to believe that's the same cat as the tiny bit of a feral kitten who found her way into the warehouse at work. The guys had no idea there was a cat in the shop until they started finding kitty poop in the stucco mix. Quite an adventure getting her trapped and was she grateful? Not! We were the dreaded human people and she was quite the feral she-devil. We eventually socialized her and I brought her home - although she always has gone to the beat of a different drummer, hence the name Misfit. Ahhh, those toy mice she likes to drown - most often the water dish but the toilet does do nicely on occasion.
I just finished up Ice Land by Betsy Tobin that I received from Amazon Vine, and my not so great string of book luck with this program continues. The story is based upon characters from the Old Norse legends, and I'm hoping the publishers will get a brief run-down on those legends for the front of the book along with a cast of characters for the final edition. Or at least a warning for readers - if you're not familiar with these legends go and read about them on Wik so you can appreciate the book better. Although I don't think that's the kind of work a reader should have to do to appreciate your story.....
I'm about half-way through CJ Sansom's Winter in Madrid and plan on putting a big dent in it this weekend. After that waiting at the top of the pile are The Parasites from Daphne Du Maurier, A Secret Alchemy by Emma Darwin (I would sooo like to see some more reviews on Amazon than just Harriet's) and two books by what may be my next great discovery from the past written by Catherine Cookson. Apparently she was quite the prolific author in her day and wrote 100 plus novels. Cookson's books look like the perfect book to keep in the car and take to the gym for reading whilst doing cardio.
